When we started this journey we knew we had great beer and a vision to build something special, but honestly we had no idea what to expect and without access to a crystal ball to see the future we couldn’t anticipate when 12 Fox would catch on and become something bigger.
As a small microbrewery out in the country, we started off pouring between 2-3 of our own beers each weekend (if we were lucky). 12 Fox beers were offered first come first served and when we were out we were out. Teaming up with an amazing community of local breweries, wineries, meaderies and a cider house for our guest taps allowed us to maintain a full menu filled with delicious and quality options for our patrons.
Our ability to sell out of our beer consistently from weekend to weekend was both awesome, but also pretty frustrating. For us it was problematic because we wanted our guests who were making the trip to visit the brewery to try more than just one or two of our beers (go figure). So after only being open for 5 months we made the decision to take the next step and upgrade from a 1 barrel system to a 5 barrel system.
This 5 barrel system is quite simply going to be a game changer for 12 Fox. It not only will allow us to have greater capacity (i.e. make more beer), but it means we are now keeping our taps filled with our beers! The new system will give us the flexibility to participate in festivals, offer growlers to go, host more events here at the brewery, and just maybe partake in some light strategic distribution.
Late last month we started prepping for our new system. The guys got to work on the removal of the existing system and prepping for the installation of the new one. A whirlwind of long days and late nights devoted to clearing out, making room, and getting dirty with a list of seemingly never ending projects all in the name of making more beer.
